“ Big Sur Bakery has been a gem for may years and it's truly sad what happened on May 3 of this year. I usually got my Avacado toast and a coconut pineapple tea au lait ( my favorite ) Their variety of pastries were always on point and my kids always loved those egg quiche slides. #missed ”
“ Ordered some lovely pastries while down in Big Sur on vacation. Our favorite had to be the Maple Bacon Bow so yummy. The location is gorgeous with beautiful landscaping and the staff kind as well. But beware the wild turkeys are no joke. They will attack you or your vehicle. ”
“ Did I really spend $50+ at this little bakery off the road in Big Sur? Yes, and I don't regret it. We hopped in line Monday late morning after checking out of our camp site. The line was already out the door. After placing your order at the counter, you wait outside for your name to be called. There was ample seating outdoors on the porch. * Cream-filled donut: I'm normally not a fan of filled donuts, but this one was so good! They sell out quickly, and for good reason. The filling was not overly sweet and the dough was fluffy. * Maple bacon twist: Not my fave, but my partner liked this one the most. It is one of the larger pastries. * Almond croissant: Good! Tastes like you would expect. * Vegetable strusel: Ok my friend bought this. I had a bite of hers and I went back to the bakery to buy one for myself because it was that tasty. It's a flaky buttery pastry filled with flavorful mushrooms, peas, onions, and garlic. The pastries aren't the cheapest, but I recommend stopping by if you're camping in the area. I wish they warmed up the pastries for customers. I'm sure that would make them taste even better! ”
“ A+ in every way. Everything they make has a perfect balance of flavors and the vibe is so cozy. I love getting pastries and coffee at Big Sur Bakery! *the streusel and crossaint crust is heavenly ”
“ It's one of those places you hear about when traveling on HWY 1 on Big Sur as a must stop. Been here a few times and can only speak to picking up pastries to go. I love the banana bread, but missed out on it this time. Instead, got the maple bacon twist and blueberry strudel. Both were delightful. No lines this time, so I was excited about that to say the least. I also got a unique one of a kind mug made by a local artist. Can't resist supporting local businesses and talents. Next time, I think I want to try the coffee and other food at the bakery. Yes, it's still a must stop for me whenever I go to Big Sur! ”
“ Ate here 3 days in a row during an anniversary trip. I loved it that much. First time was for dinner and I was blown away. We ordered the fresh bread, oysters, heirloom tomato with burrata, trout, and ribeye. The ribeye came with a grilled romaine with buttermilk and crushed nuts seasoned with a middle eastern spice. My tastebuds were exploding with the amazing flavor combo. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium and had buttery crunch exterior. The dinner vibe was cozy by the fire and romantic like I was in a friends living room but when in Big Sur you'l can either dress up or dress down as you may be a camper or resort-er. Service was excellent, it shows in the meals that the staff is passionate about their grub. The waitstaff were kind, personable and knowledgeable of the fare and sights. Such a high class experience, don't be fooled by the "bakery" name! For breakfast, I became obsessed with the chocolate banana strudel, ham & cheese croissant, custard donut, a rose tea au lait and a purple Earl gray au lait another morning. I look forward to returning to Big Sur someday and the bakery will absolutely be part of that visit! ”
“ Nestled in the heart of Big Sur, this bakery is a true gem worth discovering. For us it was a quick stop though definitely would recommend to take some time and visit the bakery in peace and enjoy their offerings. They have ample parking spots for guests moving in and out though we realized that after we had parked outside Big Sur Deli (right next door) though it turned out to be a bit of an incline walk to the bakery which was all fun. On the way to the bakery you do see a fully functional Shell gas station (though it can turn out to be a costly tank fill) that features an air and water station as well. As we approached the Big Sur Bakery, we were immediately drawn to its rustic and inviting exterior. The bakery's warm, cozy interior with wooden furnishings and a welcoming fireplace creates a delightful atmosphere. The open kitchen adds a sense of transparency, allowing guests to watch the skilled bakers in action. The staff at Big Sur Bakery were very friendly and definitely helped us with our questions with the menu. We ordered a coffee and and ice-tea since we were trying to do a very quick stop as we had a long day planned ahead of us. Hopefully we get to taste more of their offerings in our next visit. Cheers!! ”
“ Bookmark this place for a great pick me up before or after a scenic drive on Highway 1. The bakery has quite the array of tasty delicacies satisfying both a sweet or savory desire . I fell in love with the Ginger scone - perfect with a black espresso. I also dined here on a weeknight. Very nice selection of seating inside or out. I recommend the trout dish - it was served with freshly shucked corn in a cream base . Accompanied with fresh green beans. . There feature a vast wine list . One dessert is available, a Plum galette. Do yourself a comfort food favor an try it - so fresh, tasty and topped with a dollop of freshly made whipped cream . The workers in the bakery were friendly . And a big compliment to the service at the restaurant, exceptionally friendly and professional. ”
“ We always make a stop at Big Sur Bakery for pastries and coffee but have never had a proper meal here before. We stopped by in the AM and I inquired about the dinner desserts which sounded incredible. I opted to pass on pastries in anticipation - we'd have proper birthday dessert tonight. We came for our dinner reservation - patio is dog-friendly - and had to wait quite awhile to get seated even though tables were open and we were certainly the last seating at the end of the night. We waited outside as the night grew colder, although we got to see the sun set. I was excited for the dessert that I'd heard of this morning but heard other patrons sat they'd run out of dessert already so they were trying to buy cookies. Dinner itself was great - I especially enjoyed my trout. Perfectly cooked with unfashionably crispy skin, with corn and morels - killer combo. My partner's steak was good but we just had some pretty unbeatable steak the night before. We shared wings which were finger-licking good too. The server knew we were bummed to not have dessert so whipped up a free dessert for us - a chocolate cake from the bakery cabinet. That was sweet, literally and figuratively. I will say the pastries I've had here have been hit or miss though could be personal preference. ”
“ Cute little bake shop by Pfeiffer Big Sur SP. The pastries look great but also be prepared for high prices. Like double the prices. Conveniently connected to a shell gas station with also a deli also not too far, this is your go to spot in the area. Super quick service. Other than the prices, the pastries are great. I got a cinnamon bun and a maple bacon bow. That maple bacon bow was worth the $9 bucks I paid. Super tasty with generous amount of bacon and flaky dough. I'm already thing about how to get it again! ”
